Final Project Rubric

Final Project Page 2004-2005

Due By May 9th

During this school year we have covered many topics.  When we look back it is                                                                                         surprising how much science have studied.  You now have the opportunity to                                                                                       explore one of our covered topics and show off your knowledge and skill.  The                                                                                         final project is worth 20% of your grade this final marking period.  We will use                                                                                         the new wireless laptop lab in our classroom for your explorations.

This page lists your final project assignment requirements and resources.  This                                                                                                                                         is for my physical science and biology classes.  I have previewed and approved all the                                                                              web sites linked below.  The majority of the work is to be completed in class                                                                                      between April 7th and May 9th.  I do encourage you to do outside research,                                                                                                  organization and writing.  Good Luck!!

  • Follow wireless laptop lab directions and use guidelines.

  • Go to this website  http://www.extremewet.com/Public_Education.htm as your starting point.

  • Go to the Final Project page.  Look under your course title, Physical Science or Biology.  Explore suggested topics by searching related website links below each topic.  Select a topic you are interested in.

  • Use all your wireless notebook lab time.

  • Turn in a topic sheet with your name, date and period as a heading.  List your desired topic for final project and 3 - 4 web site addresses you will start your research from.  You may and are encouraged to use appropriate web sites beyond the ones listed below as starting points.

  • This is due today by the end of the period!

Thursday April 14th, confirm topic approval and review rubric for final project.

  • Review submitted topic sheets to determine if your desired topic has been approved.

  • If not approved redo process from April 8th, if approved proceed.

  • Read the Rubric (double click link Final Project Rubric).

  • Determine what is required for your cover sheet, introduction, body, conclusion, and works cited page.

  • Start your planning NOW!!!

  • Remember the media center will close April 18th for the year.

Thursday April 21st, research web resources and accumulate data.

  • Follow wireless laptop lab directions and use guidelines.

  • Open a Word file and save it as "final project resources" in your school folder.

  • Start reviewing your previously selected websites.

  • Explore as many links and related sites as possible.

  • Highlight interesting data and copy it to your "final project resources" word file.

  • Once you have enough data, open a new word file.

  • Save it as "(Your Name) Final Project".

  • Start organizing and writing from your data or notes.

  • DO NOT COPY DIRECTLY FROM YOUR DATA!!!!!

Friday April 22nd, organize and write.

  •  Follow wireless laptop lab directions and use guidelines.
  •  Refer to your stored file: "final project resources" and "(Your Name) Final Project"
  • Organize and write from you data.
  • DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!!!
  • Prepare your cover sheet.  Make certain you include your name, date, period, and project title.  Add clip art and/or word art added for aesthetic value.
  • Write your introduction, present a concise lead-in to the report.
  • Prepare the report's body.  Make sure the information on topic, insightful, and between three to five pages.
